Growing up with Zeb

Hello,

I am Zeb’s younger brother. I wanted to share my experience growing up with Zeb and give some insight on who he is. Most people have no idea what Klinefelter’s syndrome is or how it affects those people who have it. That is largely due to it being an under diagnosed chromosomal disorder. But I can account first hand to the effects of his disorder.

I am three years younger than Zeb, but growing up it never felt that way except for him always being taller than anyone else I knew. I was always an academic child, had a 4.0 GPA and never felt challenged enough by any schooling or testing I had taken. Zeb was just the opposite. He was always in classes that were behind me, even though I was three years younger. I always had a hard time understanding why he was so far behind me or why he seemed to learn slowly, as it wasn’t until much later we found out he had Klinefelter’s syndrome.

Zeb was always seeking acceptance from his peers, and unfortunately most adolescents are very intolerant of those who are different or slower than themselves. This is why Zeb was always eager to make a new friend and accepted anyone into his life regardless of their personality. That being said, he had no concept of how to avoid a bad situation, or how to avoid people who only wanted to take advantage of him.

Zeb was always making foolish mistakes growing up. From throwing fireworks in a dumpster , to stealing candy from the convenience store, or taking money from my mom’s purse. He never once got away with any of these, and always broke under interrogation (I use the word loosely of course) from my family.  I tell you this to show you that due to his condition he was unable to identify when he was making a bad choice and to learn from the mistakes he made.

Even though Zeb made plenty of mistakes in his life, I know what type of person he is, and also what kind of people the girls who accused him are, as I too went to high school with them. These girls were all friends, who spent much of their free time together. I do not mean to be insensitive to anyone who has been sexually assaulted, but it rings suspicious to me when five friends all come forward together to report crimes they claim took place over a 3 year spread. Not one of them came forward when they reported the crime to have taken place. That and the story that one of the girls said that I had to come in and stop Zeb while he was assaulting her, which I assure you is not true.

I wanted to share my story and let you all know that I love Zeb, despite all his flaws, and know in my heart that he would and could not commit such atrocities. He has always had a big heart and been very accepting of everyone. I hope the truth will be found and that justice will be done.

Very disturbing to say the least. With his diagnosis of Klinefelter’s Syndrome it would appear that prior to trial he should have had a phyc exam, medical exam and collection of evidence not done in this manner and positively not by women! This needs to be addressed in a court of law with ADA advocates present the State needs ot be brought to the table on this. There is no way this is acceptable even if the person was caught in the act let alone when there was nothing more then a few girls coming forth with a story 3-5 years after the suppossing sexual assult. What is the character of these girls, was there something for them to gain was this a malishious attempt at a payback towards Zeb or his family. The pleadings pre trial would be interesting both both sides. Obviously there was no reason for the Evidence Collection if the arrest was on verbal years prior accusations. When was the last contact Zeb had with these girls prior to his arrest? The ultimate sentencing for a crime with no physical evidence of a rape can not go without appeal. If in fact Zeb was being used by vendictive girls and did not have the mental and emotional capacity to show better judgement, (this is just assuptive since the only knowedge of the case I have is this web site) It still appears there is cause for a medical review as well as the need for charges to be filed against the State of Alaska, The two women that did the evidence gathering (as they should have known one of his condition, that can cause irreputable harm) and two because I am sure it is not SOP to have 2 women in a room with a naked man, and if it is again the State of Alaska should be liable for poor judgement! I will check back to see if you post any documents that further sheds light on this case. I will offer my limited legal experience to do assist. God Bless Zeb and the family.

Barbara. The judge gave him 90 years. His attorney did not defend him at Trial. In fact her and the DA got my husbqand and I as witnesses for the State so we could not be in the court room. Klinefelter’s Syndrome boys do not produce testostorne. He finally got moved out to Goose Creek. The girls who set this up are not reputable girls. The two troopers who illegally stripped him naked made him do this for 45 minutes while 2/3 male troopers were standing behind the door. They never questioned him. They arrested him, stripped him naked, threw him in jail. His Klinefelter’s was never brought out in his Trial. Thank you for writing. We are here. It breaks all of our hearts, but in Alaska they are corrupt and only care about convictions not the truth. Tina Whisler

I read the website and I cannot imagine how hard this all must be on Zeb’s family. I have a younger brother in prison and although he is not in for anything similar as to the charges of Zeb I know what it’s like for people to assume they know what the facts are, to stereotype and say and spread horrible rumors about someone you love. I’m very happy that his family is taking a stand against what happened, because Alaska’s judicial system is extremely corrupt, inconsistent and it is wrong people’s lives are being ruined and wasted every day because of our corrupt justice system. I applaud Zeb’s family for having his back and standing up for him I know it is not easy especially considering what he has been accused of but that’s true love and he’s lucky he has a family like you guys. Never give up on what’s right, the door will be shut in your face many times because people don’t care because they are not directly affected they haven’t had someone they love in this situation and I hope the less people that find their loved ones falsely accused and incarcerated the better but there’s tons out there some people just don’t think their voice will matter. I’m glad this site is up and stay strong.

Thank you Erin. We do love Zeb very much, and we know what kind person he is, and how gentle he really is. He has never been allowed to share his side of the story, and everyday he gets up with a smile on his face, and joy in his heart. He makes us laugh and find joy and has since he was born. As his mom I appreciate your words and kindness which helps us to continue the fight for Zeb. We aren’t doing all this for us as a family, but we hope and pray we can help many. Your right Alaska is very corrupt. The cops and State Troopers don’t investigate anything. They build cases against you. The DA’s, the Judges, and Defesne attorneys are so corrupt. But the problem is also “we the people”, who don’t know our rights when we sit on the “Grand Jury”, and that is what we intend to do, is to educate. Thank you so much. Sincerely Tina Zeb’s mom
